Maren Morris continues to speak out about the country music industry’s challenges when it comes to homophobia, transphobia, and the exclusion or openness of the LGBTQ+ community, as well as other issues such as racism and sexism.
Now, he is apologizing on behalf of the industry for the worst relationship with the community in the history of country music.
Morris appeared RuPaul’s Drag Race: Unstoppablecommunicate freely with the competitors.
He told the drag queens, “From country music and his relationship with LGBTQ+ members, I just want to say I’m sorry.” The contestants were deeply moved by his thoughts.
The 32-year-old went on to thank everyone for their support, saying, “And I love you guys for making me feel like a brave person in country music. So, thank you guys so much for inspiring me.”
A few of the contestants thanked him for his comments, and after Morris finished his speech, he said, “I’m going to cry, I have to go.”
Another queen on the show responded, “Just being here shows you’re supportive.”
The employee had to interrupt the conversation so that Morris could go to another production facility, which ended the matter.
Morris has been a frequent speaker about the industry, which happened recently Brittany Aldeanthe wife of a country singer On Jason’s sidemaking a transphobic comment on Instagram.
Both Morris is a fellow country artist Cassadee Papa called him, Morris says, “It’s easy, like, don’t be a normal person?”
In 2021, Morris visited The Ellen Show and had an in-depth discussion about the lack of country music for LGBTQ+ and people of color.
She said, “I’m a white woman in country music. I’ve already had this leg and even though there’s a big gap between men and women in our race, there’s a big gap between white women and black women who are trying to be in country music.”
Morris continued, “There are a lot of black women and men who love country music and they don’t feel like a door has been opened, even cracked.”
