The Southtown area of downtown San Antonio is full of food, bars, entertainment and other entertainment for all ages. The new dining and drinking scene for residents and visitors, however, is coming from Houston.
McIntyre’s, an ice skating rink with three original locations in the Houston area, has expanded to San Antonio in late 2022, opening in the former bar The Patio at 1035 S. Presa St. The grand opening was held from December 29 to January 2. .
Like its Houston-area counterparts, San Antonio McIntyre combines indoor and outdoor spaces with painted walls, various seating areas, and great views of large, high-definition movies on the main balcony.
The patio at McIntyre’s is dog-friendly, an important feature that complements the relaxed atmosphere of the bar chain.
Michael Paolucci, who joins Kyle Berg in the ownership and operations of McIntyre, said that their first San Antonio location was well received by locals and visitors who opened in the last days of the recent holidays in the Alamo City.
“The first two days were good,” Paolucci said.
The beverage menu includes classic and craft beers, cocktails on tap, signature, classic and chilled cocktails, a variety of whiskeys, as well as wine and champagne.
McIntyre’s trucks are stocked with food to feed hungry guests. Garcia Barbecue is open Sunday through Tuesday and every other Saturday, serving smoked quest nachos, sandwiches and tacos.
Another service, Jeepney Street Eats, cooks a variety of dishes Wednesday through Friday, and every other Saturday.
Guests can also enjoy leisure time and various lawn games, such as cornhole.
Paolucci and Berg are not held in San Antonio: McIntyre’s has submitted an application to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation to build a second San Antonio location near the North Star Mall at 86 NE Loop 410.
