TULARE, Calif. (KFSN) — Six people are dead after a shooting in Goshen Monday morning.
Two of the victims are a mother and a baby.
The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office says it happened on Harvest Avenue between Road 68 and Kame Drive just after 3:30 am.
Callers initially thought he was a speed shooter because of the number of shots he fired.
When the helpers arrived, they immediately saw that two people were dead in the street and a third one was at the door of the house.
Rescuers found six victims. Five of them were pronounced dead at the scene. Another died in hospital.
The victim’s grandfather and aunt are said to be from Northern California and have lived with his father’s family in Goshen for the past year.
“I don’t understand who would kill such a child. I can’t wrap my head around it. How can a person be a monster and do that? I can’t understand,” said the teenager’s grandmother.
Authorities believe there are at least two suspects at this time. They do not believe that this was a random act and that there is a terrorist connection.
Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux says the shooting was “similar to a cartel killing.”
“We believe this is being looked at very closely. This is personal and we also believe this is the message being sent,” said Sheriff Boudreaux.
