British actor Julian Sands, known for his work in shows like “24” and movies like “Room with a View” and “Arachnophobia,” has become known as a hiker in the area of Mt. Baldy, California since last Friday. to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Sands was reported missing at 7:30 p.m. on January 13, Gloria Huerta, a spokeswoman for the department, told CNN.
CNN has reached out to Sands’ representatives for comment.
Mt. Baldy is located in the San Gabriel Mountains in San Bernardino County.
Searchers and rescuers were on the mountain looking for Sands, but because of bad weather and the risk of a landslide, rescuers had to suspend their search, Huerta said.
Officials continue to use drones to search Sands, but they are limited due to the weather on Mt. Baldy, Huerta added.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department recently issued a warning to hikers to Mt. Baldy, where strong winds and ice continue to make conditions dangerous.
In a Facebook post, the agency said that in the past four weeks, search and rescue teams have responded to 14 rescue missions on Mt. Baldy and surrounding areas.
“These rescue operations have been for lost, missing and/or injured people. Unfortunately, in the last 4 weeks, two hikers did not survive after falling and injuring themselves,” said the post. “The recent storm that brought snow and ice is not good for hikers, even the most experienced.”
Sands’ other credits include movies like “The Killing Fields” and “Leaving Las Vegas” and TV shows like “Smallville.”
One of his most recent credits was a recurring role on the Netflix series “What/If.”
