The sequel ‘M3GAN’ is officially working.
‘M3GAN 2.0’, the horror sequel, which follows an AI toy that becomes self-aware, is expected to hit theaters on January 17, 2025.
Writer Akela Cooper will rewrite the script and stars Allison Williams (Gemma) and Violet McGraw (Cady) will reprise their roles, Variety reports.
It is not known if director Gerard Johnstone will return at the helm or if M3GAN showrunners Amie Donald or Jenna Davis will take over the role.
Jason Blum recently admitted that ‘M3GAN’ made him break his “cardinal rule” in his sequels.
The boss of Blumhouse released a blockbuster and reconsidered the decision to consider the sequel “earlier” than usual.
He told the publication: “When I saw the film for the first time, we had a good idea that a sequel would really work. So, we broke our cardinal rule and started discussing the sequel before its release.
“I felt so excited that we started entertaining the series earlier than we used to.”
Blum noted that the Atomic Monster studio set the style and agreed that “everything is important”.
He added: “The theme treatment was from Atomic Monster. It came to us with that theme, and the 3 of ‘e’. It’s all important.
“When you get something to fit into a culture, it’s very difficult. It happens very often. Every detail is important. You don’t know what it really did, but the subject did something.”
