Illinois chemical plant explosion: EPA finds no health risk to residents, Carus hopes cleanup will end next week

LA SALLE, Ill. (WLS) — The massive fire at the La Salle pharmaceutical factory destroyed over a million pounds of pharmaceuticals.

The EPA found no hazards to residents after testing the soil, water and air.

UPDATE: Residents warned to avoid green debris after La Salle plant fire

The Carus company said Thursday that the cleanup is expected to be completed by the end of next week. However, several parts of the plant must be dropped.
