WILMINGTON, MA – Liberty Defense Holdings, based in Wilmington, has announced that it has recently completed beta testing of Hexwave, a security monitoring platform that detects hidden weapons and other threats.
The company said it used beta data and operational feedback to improve the system.
As a result, Liberty CEO Bill Frain said the company is now ready for commercialization, and production of Hexwave will begin in Q1 2022, with first deliveries expected in Q2.
“The culmination of years of hard work and investment is upon us,” Frain said of the product’s migration from beta testing.
Hexwave technology allows people to pass through secure areas without removing items such as phones, keys and wallets from their bags. This helps to ensure that security is more effective at the venue and to manage the events of those in attendance.
Hexwave’s core 3D imaging and artificial intelligence capabilities provide what the company calls “future-proofing,” the ability to adapt the technology to new threats that emerge to avoid detection techniques.
Recent beta tests of Hexwave were conducted at a sports event at the University of Wisconsin and at an undisclosed state building.
In the past few months, Liberty said it screened nearly 10,000 people in beta tests at major international airports, Major League Baseball stadiums and large places of worship.
“Overall, we were very pleased with the results from our recent beta testing,” said Mike Lanzaro, president and chief technology officer of Liberty Defense. “We demonstrated increased human performance and system availability without compromising security.”
Lanzaro continued: “We were happy that during the beta test, we could quickly call and update our AI algorithms to identify new threats and make changes in the identification of threats in different places on a person. badges, lanyards, metal shoes, etc. were identified as unacceptable and this system and should not have been discarded, showing a real advantage over modern security measures.”
