HURON – Erick Larson, President and CEO of Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC) and Brooke Sydow, HRMC Program Manager, attended the Start Today SD Registered Apprenticeship Program signing ceremony in Pierre to officially launch HRMC’s Healthcare Information Technology program ( IT).
HRMC was one of 12 registered vocational training programs selected and approved by the US Office of Vocational Training at the Start Today SD signing event in Pierre last week.
Healthcare IT courses are designed to teach major IT courses that affect healthcare. Students will complete four paid courses, on-the-job within the information department, working alongside experienced staff. Students will rotate after approximately three months in each area. Students will spend time learning computer resources including computer skills training and computer troubleshooting, network support including learning HRMC network policies, preparing and using electronic records, as well as learning aspects of reporting, data analysis and trend recognition.
HRMC has added health information technology to its curriculum thanks to a $10,000 grant from the Department of Labor and Regulation (DLR) to develop new registered vocational training programs.
HRMC has established enrollment programs for nursing, surgical technicians, certified nursing assistants and youth assistants, and respiratory care. If you are interested in joining HRMC’s training, contact Brooke Sydow at 605-461-8364 or [email protected]
