Lehigh Valley Health Network plans to close five of its COVID-19 vaccine clinics next month.
LVHN plans to open public hospitals in 2021 in Palmer Township, Whitehall Township, Hazleton, Pottsville and East Stroudsburg. The clinics will close on Feb. 3.
LVHN previously operated a Palmer Township hospital in the former Sears store at the Northampton Crossings shopping center. After that, the store closed last August and the hospital moved to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Hecktown Oaks.
Following the closing of the LVHN clinic, the primary immunization dose for people 6 months of age and older, and booster shots for people 5 years of age and older will be available at all Lehigh Valley Physician Group clinics.
Preparation of the COVID-19 vaccine for these practices will open in the next two weeks, LVHN said in a release.
The news comes after Northampton County closed its testing and vaccination center that works with Lehigh Valley Hospital-Coordinated Health Allentown Hospital.
The COVID-19 testing and vaccination center closed in October at Coordinated Health in Bethlehem Township, and the COVID-19 testing center will close Friday at 2300 Highland Ave in Bethlehem Township.
