Isla Fisher is grieving the death of her father Brian.
The 46-year-old ‘Nocturnal Animals’ artist announced the news on his Instagram page on Sunday (22.01.23) and asked how people can continue to live with people “you can’t live without”.
Isla said alongside a photo of her father: “How do you live without someone you can’t live without?
“How lucky I am to have you as my father. You were fun, encouraging and my best friend. No matter what was going on in my life, you always asked me if I was happy.
“I know this pain is getting worse as the days between seeing you are increasing and it’s scary.
“I love you so much. Thank you for being a great father.”
Isla was born in Muscat, Oman, to Elspeth Reid and Scotsman Brian Fisher.
Her father was working as a banker in Oman for the United Nations at the time and Isla and her family returned home to Bathgate, Scotland, before moving to Perth, Western Australia, at the age of six.
The actress, who has four siblings, said she had a “great” childhood in Perth and a “very outdoorsy” life.
Famous friends of the actress who shared sympathy in the comment section of her Instagram story about the death of her father was the actress Naomi Watts, 54 years old.
He said: “I’m sorry Isla.” This is sad news. I know how close you were. Sending lots of love. “
Actress Gal Gadot, 37, added: Oy Islush… I’m so sorry. I hope you are proud of him. Sending big hugs. “
And the model Helena Christensen, 54, added: “Sweet friend, I am very sad about the death of your good father. He sounds like he was a very good father and I know how this must hurt. Sending a lot of love.”
Isla – who has three children with her 51-year-old husband Sacha Baron Cohen – last year paid tribute to her father on Instagram.
He said next to a black and white photo of his father: “This is my father, Poppa Fish.
“I love him, he’s the greatest and I’m so grateful to have him in my life.”
