Aaron Schwartzbaum, producer, MC and tournament director, says it’s more of a support group than anything else.
PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — There’s a new show in town for Delaware Valley comedy fans.
“It’s Always Punny in Philadelphia” is a new, ongoing comedy competition featuring the best and worst of the community.
The winner takes all the glory or groans.
Aaron Schwartzbaum, producer, MC and director of “It’s Always Punny,” says it’s a support group more than anything else.
“The type of crowd that lives in puns is less than in other jokes. But the people here are really into it. They know what they’re getting into, I hope! It’s a very dedicated group and I really am. Happy Helium made it all possible,” said Schwartzbaum.
The event is held at the Helium Comedy Club in Philadelphia on a regular basis. It attracts pun comedians, stand-up comedians, comedians and voiceover artists from around the world.
Alex Tallarico has been a professional and stand-up comedian for seven years. He says, “It’s important to know when you’re making puns. Moaning is as important as laughing. We’re not just in this fun, it’s a comment process. When you tell a joke, it doesn’t matter how good or bad it is, and people laugh, you feel good too. .”
“Now more than ever it’s important to make people laugh, and if it’s people who are doing stupid and stupid things like stupid, then that’s the way to go,” adds Tallarico.
Schwarztbaum hopes to have another show by the end of 2023. To learn more about that or other upcoming comedy events at Helium, click here.
