JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – Public health fair in Jonesboro on Saturday.
The NEA Progress group brought the health fair to an area they said was underrepresented.
NEA Progress board member Chloe Rush said it is important for the health fair to offer a variety of health and psychological tests.
“NEA Progress wants to show the community that minorities and minorities have a place to turn when they need it,” he said.
The one-day event also provided resources to continue caring for those in need.
Rush also said he would like to provide the service at the event for free.
Oluwatomywa Awobayiku, a medical student at NYIT, said this is what made him grow as a medical student.
“This is something that is rooted in the work that we will do as future doctors and having the opportunity to work with potential patients, working in the community is always something that we look forward to,” he said.
He also noticed a decrease in some of those who went to see a doctor, so their presence there was important.
“We’re probably the first people who have tested them to find out more about their health,” he said.
Members with NEA Progress said they hope to continue to provide more health fairs in the future.
